Weekly Summary 12- Mashup and Remix Edition

For this week, we focused on remixing and mashups. This was a lot of fun to do but also challenging me to think outside of the box and be creative with the assignments. The first thing we did is mashups. I did 10 stars worth of assignments that correlated with this. 50% of the assignments I did were by the theme.

Next, I did a tutorial. I decided to do it from one of the Audio Assignments, “Played from Another Room”. I tried to make it as clear as possible while still being instructive and helpful as to what the goal was.

Next, I did the two remixes. These were really fun to do and also made me think about how I could create a new project from one already done!

Lastly, I did 3 Daily Creates.

Overall, this week was very creative and I’m looking forward to our final project soon!

Remix it~ Cool Letters Style

For this assignment, I chose to remix the cool letters assignment because I had fun customizing that one. The remix that it came up with was to add a “Zomboy” style to it. Honestly, I did not know what that is but I think it was to make it look grungier than it was. “Street Style” almost.

For this, I went to Cool letters generator again and typed in my name. Here, I tried to pick a font and customize it so that it could be similar to this style. I played around with the font, the pattern, the color, the text size, the spacing, and the shadows so that it could look somewhat grungier. Considering my last design was pink and friendly and cursive, I definitely think this was quite a remix!

Unhappy Holidays? Remix!

For this remix assignment, I really enjoyed mashing up the holidays, so I decided to remix it as well. The remix that came up was to make it “emo”

I thought this would fit perfectly with the assignment. I went back to Pixlr and edited a lot with the picture. I changed the color settings on each picture so that it was “grungier” looking and emo. After I finished putting a different color setting on each one, I added a text saying Unhappy Holidays in black dripping letters. I thought this would add to the remix. Here is my finished result below. Hope you like it!

Holiday Mashup~

For this assignment, for 4.5 stars, I did the Holiday Mashup. We were to mash three holidays together into one photo. For mine, I decided to choose the 3 holidays that we have/will be celebrating over this semester. Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. These are also my favorites. For the assignment, I used Pixlr which I had never used before, but it’s actually surprisingly very user friendly. I decided to do cartoons as everything so that it would be more uniform. For each image, I found a Turkey, a Santa hat, and a jack-o-lantern to represent the three holidays. From there, I reorganized them and cut out the backgrounds so that it would look good together. All in all, this was a very very fun assignment and definitely one of my favorites. I also enjoyed learning a new platform to photoshop on!

Beetlejuice texts!

For this assignment, for 5 stars, I did the Storytelling through text assignment. For this, I used my laptop and my phone, which ultimately didn’t let me see it as from another user unfortunately, to text about the Beetlejuice movie. I thought this would fit well with our theme considering it was unveiled around 1988! For this, I used a plot summary of Beetlejuice and told “a friend” about it using the synopsis while the other person reacted to it. I used screen record on my phone to take it, and then saved it onto my phone. From there, I airdropped it to my laptop, and then uploaded it to vimeo. I don’t know the exact way I could have sped it up so that it isn’t as pausy or long, but maybe that is something I can correct in the future. Overall, I’ve seen this done a lot on apps and storytelling videos, so I thought It would be fun to give it a go!

How I did: Played from Another Room

Hello! In this post, I will show you how I did my assignment “Played from Another Room”. Essentially, this is how to change audio on Audacity to make it sound like it’s coming from another room. First, to get familiarized with the process, I watched a video on Youtube that showed how to do it:

Next, you want to select your audio. I chose “If You Leave” from Pretty in Pink. The audio you choose will also make it easier/harder for you to upload based on copyright issues. Next, use any site, I used https://ytmp3.cc/ , to convert your music from a youtube video, to MP3.

After you have your audio ready, you’re going to open up Audacity and start your process.

To first start, you’re going to open up your audio.

Next, you’re going to select the audio, and click Equalization. This is going to give you the effect you want.

From this page, you’re going to change and amp up the “Walkie-Talkie” effect, and the “Bass Booster” effect. Play around with it until you get your desired result. Then, you can see what it sounds like by clicking preview.

Finally, listen to the audio and change it if the effect is not strong enough. Here is what mine looked like at the end and your audio should look similar! Hope this works and enjoy!

Weekly Summary Week 11:

This week we continued on our video projects, and got more comfortable with video editing. For this week, I went the individual route, so I did 10 stars more worth of assignments. For me, this week was about adding more value to my production in my videos; however that was hard considering imovie on my computer crashes everytime I add something to it. Without that however, this week made for a lot of fun with editing. Here are my daily creates!

Next, we had to do 10 stars worth of video assignments. For this week, I chose to do two assignments worth 5 stars. Working more and playing around with editing more made for better videos and better quality. I think the assignments I did I put a lot of work into and you can tell it’s a drastic improvement from last week!

These videos took lots of extra care and editing considering they were worth 5 stars. I am happy with the outcome!

Next, we had to write up a final project part 2 ideas post. In this, I explain a more formulated idea of what I want to do. Let me know what you think!

Finally, I continued to submit the best posts as well as do more commenting on other’s blogs. This week really pushed me to become more comfortable with video editing, as well as also be more patient from reopening iMovie the 60 times it crashed on me. See you next week!

Final Project Ideas!

For my final project, I had thought it would be fun to take the top 10 albums of the 80’s and form it into one picture. With more thought of the given project, I thought it would be fun to actually do the whole decade, year by year. I would do this through photoshop by taking all of the top 10 pictures of albums of the year, and then change the opacity and layering levels to make it into one photo. From past experience, this project turns out really cool. If needed, I could do a video talking about the picture and incorporating that into the project as well; although the photoshop using the pictures takes time enough and a video would be a bit harder. I’m thinking that this would be fun and would show the contrast of the 80’s between the years and hopefully people will be able to make out some of the albums! This is something I really want to either get the ball rolling with since it takes time, or formulate some way to make or change this project to fit the guidelines.

Things Duckie Says

For this assignment, for 5 stars, I did a Supercut video featuring funny things Duckie from Pretty in Pink says. I used a video of Duckie Clips I found on Youtube, downloaded it, and then edited and cut it so that I could get it how I wanted. I focused on funny phrases that he said, so the video that was originally 4 minutes long, I cut down to 1:30. He’s my favorite character, and he says a lot of bizarre things so I wanted to incorporate that. It took a lot of cutting at the right times and editing it. I added a title and beginning and credits scene to add more production level. After finishing, I was able to upload this to vimeo. I got lucky that there was already a youtube video showing short clips of Duckie, but it was up to me to supercut it so that it was only phrases that I wanted. The scenes are no longer than 5 seconds long, so I was really cutting and chopping it. It goes chronologically throughout the movie, so it’s also fun to see him from beginning to end with his personality. I hope you enjoy!

Motorola DynaTAC 8000x

For this assignment, for 5 stars, I wanted to create an 80’s themed advertisement video. I chose to feature the Motorola DynaTAC 8000x because it was invented in 1984 and became one of the world’s first cell phones so it was a very important innovation of the decade. I took to iMovie for this assignment, chose my type, and then went to editing. This week, I focused a lot on my transitions and adding more to add to the production level. With this video, I explain what it is, what it does, and how much it is. I added transitions between each slide, music in the background, and added titles for a majority of the slides as well. I do some voiceover with the audios to explain what I wanted to, so I had to adjust the audio. It’s about 38 seconds, which I believe is short and sweet but also gets the point across. I had so many problems with my MAC with it continuing to shut down on my computer, but I finally got it to save. I had to upload it to Vimeo just because it would NOT upload to Youtube no matter what I did. Here is my assignment!
